Dubai will host the Dubai Global Energy Forum (DGEF) 2013 from 15-17 April 2013 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) under the theme 'Clean Energy for Sustainable Development' and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and in line with the long-term national initiative 'Green Economy for Sustainable Development' to build a green economy in the UAE.

The DGEF will discuss critical issues and innovative solutions related to renewable and alternative energy, and ways to meet future growing demand for energy while preserving the natural resources and protecting the environment.

"Organising the second session of DGEF builds on the huge success of the first session held in 2011. The Forum promotes Dubai's position globally, and aims to diversify energy resources by providing green and sustainable solutions and enhancing the efficiency and reliability of clean and renewable and alternative energy," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

"DGEF 2013 underlines the diversity of energy resources and strengthens their role in achieving sustainable development and creating a better future for all nations," he added.

"We are proud to host such an international gathering in Dubai to provide practical and quick solutions on various aspects related to the energy sector. Through joint work and collaboration with energy leaders and policy makers, we aim to exchange views and expertise with energy leaders and policy formers, to further benefit all mankind," further added Al Tayer.

DGEF 2013 is a international platform for decision makers and energy experts to exchange knowledge and ideas about regional and global policies, trends and potential opportunities in the fields of clean and alternative energy. The Forum will be attended by government officials, VIPs, decision makers, CEOs of leading companies, scientists, researchers, and analysts from all over the world, to discuss clean and alternative energy resources, peaceful use of nuclear energy, current and future policies, investments opportunities, and market indicators.

DGEF 2013's agenda will discuss effective policies, available opportunities in the energy sector and the future vision for renewable and alternative energy resources. It will also focus on solving various issues through in-depth sessions and dialogue. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn more about their energy sector through informative detailed lectures, and will be able to participate and share their opinions.

DGEF 2013 will also shed light on green projects, and the Middle East's potential for nuclear energy and solar energy. It will highlight the importance of raising awareness internationally among community members about electricity and water conservation.

The first DGEF was held in 2011 under the theme of 'Energy Challenges and Opportunities for a Sustainable Future.' The three-day event discussed nine topics and 48 research papers. DGEF 2011's key speakers included: Mohammed Al Baradei, former Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005, and APJ Abdul Kalam, former Indian President, and a world-renowned scientist. Some 25 countries participated in DGEF 2011 which discussed various aspects of renewable energy.
